Why is Canada cooperating with the application of American extra-territorial law?  Huawei is a Chinese corporation, subject to Chinese law in its business with the Islamic Republic of Iran, NOT American law.  The sanctions which Huawei is accused of violating have been suspended by the United Nations through resolution 2231 as a result of Iran's agreement to international supervision of its nuclear development programs.  This suspension may be inconvenient for domestic political interests in the US, but Canada has no obligation to act in the political interests of such parties. Therefore the Canadian authorities who arrested Meng Wanzhou were in violation of Canadian Law and Canadian international obligations.  The Prime Minister should apologize to Ms Meng and discipline the individuals who broke Canadian law by arresting her.  In no situation should Canada tolerate, never mind participate in, the extra-territorial application of the domestic law of other countries.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
