Frank George Gale was the son of Enoch Gale and Harriet Grace ?. He was born about 1860 in Ontario, Canada. 1 He worked as a Carriage Maker in 1884 at Bothwell, Zone, Kent, ON, CA. He worked as a Carriage Maker from 1881 to 1891 at London, ON, CA. 2,3 He worked as a Laborer in 1887 at Orillia, ON, CA. He died before 1901 .

He married Ida Elizabeth Eldridge on 11 October 1881 at Brantford, ON, CA. 4Witnesses were Joseph Norris and Eliza Eldridge, both of Brantford. The minister was Hamilton Biggar.

Ida Elizabeth Eldridge5 was the daughter of John Eldridge and Elizabeth. She was born about 1861 at Hastings, England. She died on 29 June 1889 phthisis at London West, Middlesex, ON, CA. 6 The cause of death was phthisis .

The minister was J.E. Moore. The marriage registration has the following note attributed to the minister: "I have heard since the marriage that the bride has another living husband. I do not know how true it is."

Margaret Forrester was the daughter of Henry Forrester and Martha. She was born about 1864 at Eramosa, Wellington, ON, CA. 8 She lived in 1889 at Dorchester North, Middlesex, ON, CA. 7

He married Esther M. ? after 1889.

Esther M. ?9 has no recorded parents. She was born on 25 June 1862 in Ontario, Canada. 9 She lived in 1901 at 219 Wellington, London, ON, CA. She died between 1904 and 1940 .

The Province of Upper Canada was separated from the Province of Quebec in 1791 to create a colony that was subject to English law and the protestant Church of England as opposed to the remainder, which became the Province of Lower Canada, subject to French civil law and with an extablished Roman Catholic church.

As a result of the revolts in 1837 against the established administrations in both Lower and Upper Canada the two colonies were merged in 1841 by the Act of Union (1840).  Formally the western province was Canada West, although most people continued to refer to it as Upper Canada.

This entry is used retrospectively for events occuring in the colony of Upper Canada from its founding in 1791 to its merger into the Colony of Canada as Canada West in 1841, and for events occuring in Canada West from 1841 to Confederation in 1867 when it became the province of Ontario within the Dominion of Canada. This is consistent with the way that events are described in official documents such as censuses recorded after 1867.
