"dilatation of the heart": Compensatory enlargement of the cavities of the heart, with thinning of its walls.

"acute": Short term duration.

"arterio-sclerosis": This is properly atherosclerosis, congestion of the arteries due to the accumulation of fatty deposits on the lining.

"Gangrene" is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that arises when a considerable mass of body tissue dies (necrosis).
