Township in western Middlesex.  Named after Adelaide Amelia Louise Theresa Caroline of Saxe-Meiningen; (13 August 1792 – 2 December 1849) who was the queen consort of the United Kingdom and of Hanover as spouse of William IV of the United Kingdom.

This place name is used when the documentation does not distinguish between North and South Dorchester.  Originally the county of Middlesex included the entire township.  In 1865 the county of Elgin was split off from Middlesex and retained the southern third of Dorchester township, concessions 7 through 12.
