Notes: His death registration and the 1861 census both indicate he was born in England, but his father was already in Canada according to the 1842 census. In the 1861 census of Caradoc, ward 2 page 37, he appears working for William Simmons, but he also appears with his family in Yarmouth, div 4 page 94. According to the Caradoc census his normal residence at that time is listed as Dorchester. In 1891 the family was enumerated twice, once in Yarmouth Twp. (div 2 pages 73/74), and again in St.Thomas (div 1 page 88). William and his wife separated in the 1880s and in the 1891 census William appears living with a "wife" Margaret.
