Sarah? ? (—)

Sarah? ? has no recorded parents.

Notes: The only authority for the name of this wife is Robert Wilton, 1983. None of the baptisms record the name of the mother, and there is no record of the marriage at Bruton.

She married William Wilton .

William Wilton was the son of Pitman Wilton and Christian Potter. He was born in 1736 at Bruton, Somerset, England . He was christened on 15 January 1736 at Bruton, Somerset, England .1 He died in 1810 at Bruton, Somerset, England .

Notes: This does not match any marriage at Bruton. The wife Sarah is reported by Robert Wilton (1983), perhaps assuming that the eldest daughter was named after her mother, since the absence of details about the the marriage suggests he did not have a documentary source. The assumption that this William Wilton is the father of John Wilton, in the absence of a baptismal record, is deduced from the appearance of the unusual name Pitman Antrum, which is repeated in the descendants of John. Also William appears to be the only Wilton who was having children at this period. Four of his sons are recorded as dying in childhood. John, the first child, is the only son who reached adutlhood, although one daughter, Mary is recorded as marrying.
