Township.  In 1834 Lake Scugog was created as the reservoir of a dam, creating an island on the boundary between Reach township in Ontario County and Cartwright township in Durham and Northumberland County.  This was made into a new township in Ontario County.

Village on the road from Delaware to Strathroy and very near the centre of Caradoc township.  It was established in 1852 and named after Charles John Brydges the Managing Director of the Great Western Railway because this was the highest elevation on the main line from London to Windsor.
