Rosella Chandler (10 Apr 1877—)

Rosella Chandler1 was the daughter of John Chandler and Sarah Ann Vansickle. She was born on 10 April 1877 at Bayham, Elgin, ON, CA. 2,3,4,1 She lived in 1894 at Ekfrid, Middlesex, ON, CA. 1

She married Robert Plain on 25 September 1894 at Caradoc, Middlesex, ON, CA. 1

Robert Plain was the son of James Henry Plain and Maria Motherofrobertplain. He was born about 1873 at Southwold, Elgin, ON, CA. 5,1 He lived with his grand-father James Plain in 1881 at Southwold, Elgin, ON, CA. 5 He worked as a Farmer in 1894 at Southwold, Elgin, ON, CA. 1

Notes: Robert identified his parents as James and Maria Plain and his birthplace as Southwold in his marriage to Rose Chandler.  There were only 2 James Plains in Southwold at the time: James Sr would have been 63 years old and James Jr would have been 25.  Robert is clearly the son of one of them because he appears with James Plain Sr in the 1881 census, but it is unlikely that Rebecca would have accepted the illegitimate child of her husband in her household, and similarly understandable that James Plain Jr's new wife would not want Robert in her household either.
